Odisha: 6 districts to see major healthcare infrastructural development, announces CM Patnaik

As per the decisions, a sum of Rs 15 lakh assistance would be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to each Rogi Kalyan Samitee of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Kendrapara and Sonepur district Headquarter hospital and Bolangir Santa Bhim Bhoi Medical College.


Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made a slew of announcements to strengthen the infrastructure in health sector in six districts in Odisha.


Mr Patnaik made the announcement to strengthen the health infrastructure in the districts of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Kendrapara, Bolangir and Sonepur on the basis of the feedback received from patients, doctors and report submitted by the " Mo Sarkar " team after visiting these districts.


The Chief Minister’s office sources here said the announcement was made to make the "Mo Sarkar" programme more efficient and accountable.


As per the decisions, a sum of Rs 15 lakh assistance would be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to each Rogi Kalyan Samitee of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Kendrapara and Sonepur district Headquarter hospital and Bolangir Santa Bhim Bhoi Medical College.


A sum of Rs 10 lakh would also be provided to the District Superintendents of these districts to promote blood donation. Rest sheds would be constructed for the attendants of the patients in the hospitals of these districts.


The number of beds in Deogarh, Angul, Kendrapara, Sambalpur and Sonepur District Headquarter hospitals would be increased.


In Deogarh, the number of beds would be increased from 60 to 200 and in Angul it would be increased from 192 to 300. The bed strength in Kendrapara district hospital would be increased from the existing 175 to 200.


Sources said, 50 additional beds would be made in the maternity centre in Sambalpur and the construction work for a seven storied building to have 50 additional beds would start within a month in the Pediatrics centre in Sonepur.


Casualty, OPD and "Ma Gruha" would be constructed in Sambalpur and the district headquarter hospital would have and integrated laboratory for diagnosis would be set up and Dialysis and ICU would be installed.


The Sambalpur District Headquarter hospital would be developed as a satellite centre of the VIMSAR, Burla.

The Dialysis unit of the Angul District headquarter hospital would be expanded, ICU unit would be strengthened, Anasthesia work Station, additional ECG machines would be provided to the hospital.


In Kendrapara, staff nurse quarters, OPD and ICU would be constructed in new campus. Dialysis unit would be expanded and two more ambulances and one Mahaprayan vehicle would be provided.


Ultrasound machines, Billuribon metre, semi auto analyser, multi para monitor and CBC machine would be provided to Sonepur district headquarter hospital to improve the quality of service in the hospital.


The Chief Minister’s office sources here said the construction of the hospital and college building of the Santa Bhim Bhoi college would be completed within 24 months and a mortuary would be constructed in the Medical College and Hospital.
