Odisha: Former VIMSAR Director joins politics

Bhubaneswar: The former Director of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Dr Aswini Kumar Pujahari has joined politics and is planning contest the upcoming coming 2019 General Elections. The doctor joined Congress Party and is aspiring a ticket for Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat, a constituency in western Odisha.
According to media reports, Dr Pujahari joined the party in the presence of Congress State President Niranjan Patnaik and All India Congress Committee (AICC) temporary in-charge of Odisha, TS Singhdeo at Congress Bhawan.
The Medical Dialogues team reported last year in December that the doctor was accused of unethical clinical practice and misconduct. A video went viral where the doctor was seen pouring edible table salt inside a man's body following a surgical incision. The four-member inquiry committee investing the charges against him submitted a report to the government based on which the doctor was found guilty and asked to go on leave until he replies to the show-cause notices sent to him by the government regarding his actions.
