Odisha: Super Speciality ESIC hospital to be launched soon
Odisha: A super speciality Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital is expected to be launched soon in the state.
The union government is reported to have stated it will soon start work on the hospital. The Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan has implied that the hospital will be constructed in a phased manner, with an accommodation of approx 500 beds at an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore.
In addition, two more ESIC hospitals with 100 beds each will be established at an estimated cost of about 100 crore each-in Angul and Daburi districts. Renovation of the existing hospitals is being done at a cost of 66.49 crore by the corporation, expected to be completed soon.
As reported by Orrisapost, few days ago, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had written to Union labour and employment minister Bandaru Dattatreya urging the later to set up the proposed super specialty hospital soon. The hospital would be set up at Jagannath Prasad, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, for which the state government earmarked 25 acres of land in 2009.
Earlier, the Centre had announced the setting up of a medical college and hospital at that place. However, in January, the Centre changed the plan and decided to set up a super specialty hospital there.
