Anantapur: In a rare surgery, Doctors at KIMS Saveera, Anantapur removed a cancerous tumor from Bladder and surrounding parts of the body. Dr. Durga Prasad and his team has performed an endoscopic surgery to remove the cancerous bladder tumor which has spread to the ureter and right kidney.

Patient, a 56-year-old, Ms. Shakeera Bee from Rayadurgam came to KIMS Saveera with complaints of blood in the urine for past five months and pain in the right abdominal region from the past 3 months. She visited many hospitals where she was diagnosed to have carcinoma bladder and was referred to Hyderabad or Bangalore for further treatment.

At KIMS Saveera, we have conducted several series of examinations and on evaluation, she was diagnosed to have multiple cancer growths in the bladder and in the right ureter causing gross dilation of the right kidney. Her hemoglobin was also low.




Dr. Durga Prasaad, Consultant Urologist, KIMS Saveera Hospitals, said, "This kind of cases are very rare and is seen one out of 1,00,000 cases only, that is 1% to 10% incidence. Cases like this are referred to primary centers like Bangalore or Hyderabad. Though, a tertiary center, we have an experienced team and the right infrastructure. We have taken up this challenging case and after thorough investigation and further plan, we have taken this case."

"The surgery lasted for around 7 hours. The bladder cancer was removed endoscopically, and, we also had to remove the right kidney and right ureter as the right kidney was dilated grossly and the ureter was filled with malignant growth. Postoperatively patients was managed with blood transfusions and was taken care in ICU. Now the patient is being discharged in stable condition. Her Biopsy report is awaited."
