OOPS: Jharkhand Doctor prescribes Condoms to Female patient as treatment for stomach

Ranchi: A government doctor practising in the state is under scanner for allegedly prescribing condoms to a woman who was suffering from stomach pain.


The incident reportedly took place in a government hospital where the doctor was working on a contractual basis. IANS reports that the female patient went to the doctor for stomach pain treatment on July 23 at the government hospital in of West Singhbhum district.

She was given a prescription by the doctor. The patient went to a medical shop with the prescription where she informed by the shopkeeper that the prescribed medicine was a condom.


The woman complained about the matter to senior doctors. The issue was further raised by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha legislator Kunal Sarangi in the assembly.


On the basis of the complaint, a medical team with one psychiatrist was constituted to probe the entire issue, which began the probe on July 28th 2019.


"Based on the complaint of the woman, a medical team has been constituted which has started the probe," In-charge of the government hospital informed IANS reporters.


Meanwhile, the doctor in question has denied the allegation.


Medical Dialogues had recently reported that the Special Operations Group of the Rajasthan Police arrested a doctor for allegedly duping a man on the pretext of securing contract works for him in new medical colleges of the state. Special Operation Group’s Additional Director General Anil Paliwal said Dr Parul Sharma, a product of Jaipur’s SMS Medical College was arrested from Sikar.


Primary investigations have revealed that the accused doctor took a total of Rs 66 lakh from one Puran Yadav on different occasions, promising him the award of tenders in new medical colleges, said the police officer. Dr Sharma also said he can help people in getting recruited on posts of lab technicians and clerks in new colleges.
