Gouty arthritis associated with heightened risk of MI and heart failure
China: A review article published in the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases has concluded that in both males and females with a history of Gouty Arthritis (GA), there exists a correlation between GA and the risk of Myocardial Infarction (MI) and Heart Failure (HF).
Dr Qinglin Wu performed a meta-analysis of published cohort studies to determine the association between GA and with risk of Myocardial Infarction and Heart failure.
Along with evaluating the objective mentioned above, researchers also aimed to provide evidence for clinical management.
The study methods included an analysis of five electronic databases to evaluate this association (inception - July 28, 2022).
Random or fixed-effect models were used to calculate Relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI).
