COIMBATORE: Puthiya Tamizhakam today urged the Centre to tread cautiously before giving the nod for online medicines trade as it would lead to unnecessary complications and also loss of livelihood to lakhs of people.
Such sales would promote spurious drugs and also supply of expired medicines and needless complications as sleeping pills will be available in plenty, PT founder leader Dr K Krishnasamy told reporters here.
Besides, it would also lead to closure of small medical shops both in semi-urban and rural areas, affecting livelihood of lakhs of people, Krishnasamy, who himself is a medical doctor and running a nursing home here, said.
Considering this, Government should debate and discuss the issue before giving its nod, as this may affect the entire health sector, he said.

There had bee no breakthrough in the case, even after the surrender and arrest of Yuvaraj, the main accused, he said.
