SC grants BAIL to Former BRD Medical College Principal
Dr Rajiv Misra was accused of sitting over the issue of payments to the vendor supplying oxygen to the hospital. He was charged under Section 308 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to the 'attempt to commit culpable homicide'.
Gorakhpur: The former principal of state-run Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College, who was booked in connection with the death of nearly 60 children at the hospital, has been granted bail by the Supreme Court on July 3.
Last year, Medical Dialogues team reported about the mournful incident where as many as 58 infant deaths were reported from the BRD Medical College within four days due to the shortage of oxygen.
There were allegations that the deaths occurred due to disruption in oxygen supply as the vendor had not been paid for several months. The money was not paid as it had not been cleared by the government of Uttar Pradesh.
