Siddha Central Research council to set up clinical research unit in Delhi

The Central Council for Research in Siddha of the Union AYUSH Ministry, headquartered in Chennai, would soon open its clinical research unit in Delhi, Council Director General Professor R S Ramaswamy today said.

He told newsmen on the sidelines of a workshop, organised by the Department of Biotechnology in Pondicherryuniversity here, that the approval has been obtained for opening of the research unit and it may go on stream in a month's time.

He said the Council was inclined to ink an MOU with Pondicherry University for collaboration between the Central Council for Research in Siddha and the University to have mutual research activities and establishment of facilities.

Earlier inaugurating the workshop on Techniques in pre-clinical studies', held under the banner of Dr Saradha Subramaniam Memorial, on the eve of the three day 36th conference of the Indian Association of Biomedical Sciences in the University, Ramaswamy said there was a keen initiative to institute clinical research units across the country.

He also felt that Union Territory of Puducherry should have a Siddha Medical college and the Pondicherry university could accommodate the college."We will collaborate if an initiative in this regard is taken," he said.

University Vice Chancellor Professor Anisa Basheer Khan presided.
