New Delhi: In order to promote the traditional systems of medicine and take them to every nook and corner of the country, the Government has set up 85 integrated AYUSH hospitals and has got proposals from state governments for 50 more hospitals, Minister of state (Independent charge) for AYUSH Sripad Yesso Naik said in the Rajya Sabha.


Replying to a debate in the house on the discussion on the working of the Ministry for AYUSH, the Minister said work is also going on relating to an insurance scheme for treatment based on traditional systems of medicine


He said very soon the modalities on the insurance scheme will be finalized.


''27 insurance companies have shown interest in this sector,'' he said.

He said that the Government is committed to provide this traditional system of treatment to the nook and corner of the country and it has also been decided to open an integrated hospital at each district and in this connection 85 integrated hospitals have been opened so far.


To establish more footprints in the rural areas, he urged the Finance Minister to release more fund for this ministry so that the poor people of the semi-urban and rural areas.

Mr Naik also informed the House that the man power and Infrastructural developments of Ayurvedic and Homeopathic hospitals have been strengthening.
