Andhra Pradesh Govt Revamps Medical College Leadership

The state government has issued transfer orders for several Additional Directors of Medical Education (ADMEs) to initiate a restructuring, which is part of a broader initiative to streamline the administration under the control of the Director of Medical Education (DME).

According to The New Indian Express, as per the official orders issued by MT Krishna Babu, Special Chief Secretary, on Sunday, key appointments and transfers have been made across various medical colleges and hospitals. Dr S Manikya Rao, who was serving as principal of Government Medical College (GMC), Anantapur, has been transferred and posted as superintendent of Government General Hospital (GGH), Ongole. Dr KSS Venkateswara Rao, previously the superintendent of GGH, Anantapur, will now take charge as superintendent of GGH, Kadapa.

In other major changes, Dr A Yedukondala Rao, principal of GMC, Ongole, has been transferred and appointed as principal of Siddhartha Medical College (SMC), Vijayawada. His predecessor at SMC, Dr P Ashok Kumar, has been posted as principal of GMC, Ongole.

Additionally, Dr I Vani, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Andhra Medical College (AMC), Visakhapatnam, has been promoted and posted as Additional Director of Medical Education and Superintendent of King George Hospital (KGH). She will relieve Dr Sivanand, Professor of Orthopedics at AMC, from the Full Additional Charge (FAC) of superintendent. Furthermore, Dr KVV Satyanarayana, Professor of Neurosurgery at Guntur Medical College, has been promoted and appointed as Additional Director of Medical Education and Principal of GMC, Anantapur.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that 59% of eligible doctors refused promotions to the post of District Coordinators of Health Services (DCHS), prompting serious concern from Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav.
