AP Medical Council Introduces AI-Enabled WhatsApp Service for Doctors
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Medical Council (APMC) has recently launched an artificial intelligence-driven facility designed to support doctors across the state by simplifying access to council-related services.
Through a newly launched WhatsApp-based system, registered medical practitioners can now obtain details regarding registration status, renewal procedures and other APMC services without the need to personally visit the council office or make telephone inquiries.
The initiative was formally inaugurated on Monday by Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav. It can be accessed through the WhatsApp number 9030999616, marking a move towards more efficient and technology-enabled service delivery.
The minister has posted on his social media stating, “Inaugurated the artificial intelligence-powered WhatsApp chatbot developed by Andhra Pradesh Medical Council in the state secretariat. Along with APMC Chairman Dr. Sri Srihari Rao garu, Vice Chairman Dr. Smt. Gogineni Sujata garu, I participated in this program. This chatbot is helping educate the public on digital governance and smart healthcare. Through this, you can get services related to the health sector. Also, can get doctor's registrations, renewals, and other services.”
The AI-based chatbot will help understand 10 different services through short text messages and explanatory videos. The bot will answer questions in a user-friendly manner. Issues such as guidance on new registrations, required documents, renewal procedures, credit point requirements, and contact details for slot booking will be handled by the bot. To maintain easy access and clarity, users will get the required information in a structured Q&A format.
APMC chairman Dr. Srihari Rao told Times of India that streamlining operations is essential, considering that there are almost 1.3 lakh registered doctors under the purview of the council. To efficiently complete the process, authorities have decentralised the renewal process to district-level centres. Moreover, there has been a reduction in the mandatory credit points required for doctors.
Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has been vocal about the government’s attempt to ensure a better and more accessible healthcare model. Previously, Medical Dialogues reported that Doctors who remain absent from duty for more than a year without informing authorities will be terminated from government service, Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has warned. The minister made it clear that strict action would be taken against doctors who fail to report to work even after an appointment or transfer.
