CPR man of India, Dr Siddha S C Chakrarao honoured for promoting resuscitation technique

Kakinada: The medical fraternity of Kakinada smart city has honoured Dr Siddha Surya Chandra Chakrarao, the CPR man of India, at a function held in Rangaraya medical college auditorium. 

The function was held on Saturday evening to mark the ILCOR (International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation) recognition to the IRCF (Indian Resuscitation Council Federation).

The recognition was secured due to the great achievement of Dr Chakrarao as the Chairman of IRCF during his recent visit to Australia.

He participated in the ILCOR conference and secured the recognition.

Replying to felicitations, Dr Chakrarao said that there was an imperative need that everyone in the country should learn the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) technique to save valuable lives.

Whenever people suffer a heart stroke either in a bus or travel or anywhere, CPR therapy could save their lives. `I was instrumental in popularizing the CPR in the country, enlisting the support of the medical fraternity.

Though the beginning was small, it spread all over within a span of over two decades and finally received global recognition,’ he said.

Dr Chakrarao thanked Delhi AIIMS Dr Rakesh, Moid Ahmed from Aligarh Muslim University, Dr Mukul Kapoor from Delhi, Dr Divethia from Mumbai, Dr Lokeswerarao Ranagaraya old student now in USA for their unstinted support to him in popularizing the CPR.

Earlier, the  IMA Kakinada branch, Rangaraya medical college staff and old students association have felicitated Dr Chakrarao.

Dr YSR University of health sciences Vice Chancellor Dr Korukonda Babji attended as the Chief guest.

Dr DSVL Narasimham, Director AP Medical Education, Dr Hemalatha Devi Government General Hospital (GGH) Superintendent, Dr Atthaluri Vishnuvardhan Vice Principal Rangaraya Medical College, Dr Moka Pavan Kumar, President IMA, Dr Prasanthi, Dr Y. Achyutharamaiah, Dr Vadrevu Ravi, Dr Bhanumathi, Dr Lakshminarayana, Dr AS Kameswerarao, Dr Ramakrishna, Director Trust Hospital were among those attended.
