Private Medical Colleges allegedly not giving PG admission: NTR University moved

Vijaywada: The Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Association has requested vice-chancellor, Dr Syama Prasad, NTR University of Health Sciences to fill the post-graduate seats of private medical colleges according to specified norms of the varsity.

The Hans India reports that K Sankar Rao, the president of AP BC welfare Association has recently submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor in his chamber and asked him to take necessary steps to direct the private medical colleges of the state to immediately initiate postgraduate admission for the remaining seats as per the rules and regulations of the university.

According to Hans India, K Sankar Rao claimed that private medical colleges are not giving admission to PG students though there is a vacancy of seats. The association stated that the government has fixed the fee structure for the private medical colleges, but they are not admitting the PG students on the pretext of the fee structure.

Supporting the fixation of fee, they stated that it is a great initiative as it will enable the poor students to access medical study in post-graduation courses. They also requested the vice chancellor for the prompt implementation of GO No 56. The government had notified the fee structure through GO No 56

According to media reports, he has also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, minister of health Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas and principal secretary of Medical and Health Department urging them to ensure a fixed fee structure for medical institutions which can be affordable and accessible by people of all Strata; however, the Vice-Chancellor stated while talking to the media person, that the admission would not be conducted as per the guidelines of the court.

Previously the association has also extended their support for the BC SC and ST students who went for the hunger strike for 3 days demanding admission in private colleges and Dental colleges of the state.
