Dr. Abhijit Sharma becomes new superintendent of Gauhati Medical College
Gauhati: The Government of Assam has appointed Dr Abhijit Sharma as the new superintendent of Gauhati Medical College. Before this appointment, Dr Sharma was serving as the associate professor, department of surgery at the Medical College.
Earlier, he was posted as the additional superintendent at Gauhati Medical College and Mahendra Mohan Choudhury hospital, but he has been relieved of his duties considering the recent orders of the government and has been appointed as the new superintendent.
Previously, Dr Raman Talukdar was serving as the superintendent of Medical College and Hospital, after the notice, he will be transferred to Lakhimpur Medical College as a professor of radiodiagnosis. Dr Talukdar was quarantined as a Corona suspect a few days ago.

The new notice was issued on 9th June by the government of Assam, Health and Family Welfare Department, on the orders of the governor.
Changes in the duties of some of the doctors have also been initiated as follows;
· Dr. Achyut Kr. Baishya has been appointed as the new Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent (I/C) at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, while Dr. Ratna Kanta Talukdar, Professor, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Gauhati Medical College & Hospital who was previously holding the position of Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent has been pardoned from her duties of the same.
· Dr. Manoj Choudhury, Professor, Department of Physiology, Gauhati Medical College and Additional Director of Medical Education, Assam has been given the charge of additional Executive Director, National Health Mission, Assam.
· Dr. Anupal Kr. Sarma, Associate Professor, Department of Physiology of Tezpur Medical College & Hospital will be responsible for holding the post of Additional Superintendent (1/c), Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital. He is relieved from the charge of Additional Superintendent, Kalapahar Hospital, Annex Hospital of Gauhati Medical College Hospital.
