Bihar- Bihar Government is soon going to start a new Government Medical College at Chhapra (Saran) with 100 new MBBS seats in the upcoming academic session 2025-26. This step has been taken towards strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in the region and promoting access to medical education.

At present, there are a total of 1,490 MBBS seats in government institutions in Bihar. With the addition of these new seats, the total number of MBBS seats in government medical colleges across the state will increase to 1,590.

Meanwhile, documents related to the admission process for the new seats in Saran have already been prepared. The expansion will greatly benefit students, as having more seats will reduce competition and increase the chances of admission within the state.

A few months ago, Medical Dialogues reported that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced plans to build a new medical college and hospital in Araria district. He said a team would soon be formed to identify suitable land for building the facility.

During the second phase of his Pragati Yatra, Kumar visited Araria during the day and inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 449 projects worth Rs 305 crore for the district. He said a Medical College and Hospital would be constructed soon in the district.
