Chandigarh: In an attempt to provide continuous medical aid to patients, the UT Health Department has started a 24x7 Doctors Consultations service through the doctors available in the Central Control Room established at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH) 16 Chandigarh. This service is made available to the Patients free of cost and is also functional 24x7.
If a patient seeks a teleconsultation, he or she has to register on esanjeevaniopd.in or download the eSanjeevani OPD app on their iOS and Android mobile phone. Under this initiative, Video Consultation with a Doctor is available free of cost. Moreover, an Instant messaging (text-based) prescription system and SMS Notifications Serviced by Doctors employed are also available, reports TOI.
This is a Free Service (managed jointly by U.T., Chandigarh & MoHFW, Govt of India). Telemedicine allows people to access professional healthcare advice in the comfort and privacy of their own homes. Thus both the time and the money that one invests in seeking medical consultation are saved. It is an effective way of ensuring that there is no overcrowding of medical facilities in the state.
