New Delhi- The police have arrested a total of 7 individuals across Delhi and Rajasthan for impersonating candidates in NEET 2024 exam.

According to Indian Express report, in New Delhi, three people were arrested for impersonating registered candidates in place of actual candidates during the examination. The arrested persons have been identified as Abhishek (24), Gajraj (21) and Rakesh (21) from Rajasthan. These accused were caught from two schools in South Delhi, Mount Columbus School in South Puri and Sarvodaya Co-Ed Government School in Begumpur.

NEET UG 2024 exam was being conducted in some schools of the South District area. At the same time, complaints were lodged at Malviya Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar police stations regarding fake candidates from two schools -Sarvodaya (Co-Education) School in Begumpur and Mount Columbus School in Dakshin Puri.

Acting on the complaint, police teams reached the schools where Abhishek was nabbed from Mount Columbus School, while Gajraj and Rakesh were arrested from Sarvodaya (co-educational) School, reports Indian Express.

Multiple FIRs have been filed against them under section 419 (cheating by personation), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code at Malviya Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar police stations.

Similarly, Gupta, an MBBS student from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, was caught impersonating a NEET aspirant at the Master Adityendra School examination centre. According to the police, the accused was part of a racket involving his college friend Ravikant alias Ravi Meena and the candidate's brother Gurjar. The deal was done for Rs 10 lakh, of which Rs 1 lakh was paid in advance. As of now, all 4 have been arrested. Meanwhile, Abhishek Gupta was produced before a court which ordered a three-day police remand, adds Money Control.
