Rs 7528.93 lakhs allocated for Telemedicine Network, says MoS Health
New Delhi: A total of 31,64,73,391 teleconsultations have been completed through the eSanjeevani platform as of 24th November 2024. This facility is currently serving around 4,50,000 patients per day, Minister of Health for State Shri Shri Prataprao Jadhav informed the Lok Sabha recently.
The Minister was asked a series of questions by Parliament member Shri Mansukhbhai Dhanjibhai Vasava who sought to know the present status of using telemedicine techniques for providing better health services in the country. He also asked whether the Government proposes to expand the telemedicine network, particularly in rural and deprived areas in the country and the details of funds allocated and used for this purpose.
MoS Health informed that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) rolled out Telemedicine services as a policy intervention under the ambit of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has developed eSanjeevani- (National Telemedicine Service) in technical collaboration with CDAC Mohali. eSanjeevani is a significant step toward digital health equity, aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). It is implemented in two variants: (i) eSanjeevani AB-HWC / Ayushman Arogya Mandir – a provider-to-provider telemedicine platform, developed in 2019, and (ii) eSanjeevani OPD – a patient-to-provider telemedicine platform, developed in 2020.
As on 24th November 2024, a total of 31,64,73,391 teleconsultations have been completed through eSanjeevani platform. This facility is currently serving around 4,50,000 patients per day. eSanjeevani (telemedicine) service is operational in more than 1,29,654 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (spoke) and in more than 16,510 hubs located in all States/UTs across different geographical locations and diverse areas.
More than 2,26,376 doctors/paramedics have been onboarded and trained under the eSanjeevani initiative ever since its inception. Till now, an amount of Rs. 7528.93 lahks has been allocated and Rs. 7238.61 lahks has been utilized for telemedicine, added the Minister.
eSanjeevani is a National Telemedicine Service of India, a step towards digital health equity to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC). eSanjeevani facilitates quick and easy access to doctors and medical specialists from your smartphone.
