Ahmedabad: In light of the evolving situation between India and Pakistan, and following India’s retaliatory actions, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Gujarat has called upon its members to be on standby for emergency medical deployment.

In an official circular addressed to all state committee members and local branches, the association urged doctors, medical specialists, and paramedics to be ready for any medical emergencies, particularly those involving surgical and intensive care. Hospital facilities with the Government and military may require our support in certain situations that require immediate ramping up of specialists and paramedics for all kinds of surgical and critical care management. We, on behalf of the Gujarat State Branch of the Indian Medical Association, urge you all to be ready to join in this call of duty should a situation arise requiring your intervention to strengthen the Government or military health infrastructure. In this context, if CDMO, CDHO, or superintendents of hospitals contact district chapters or hospitals, then please provide wholehearted support in all possible manner in this call of duty.”

IMA Gujarat has also submitted a letter to CM Bhupendrabhai Patel regarding collaboration with the Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management for extending support for the Nation. “As an organization of healthcare professionals deeply committed to the service of humanity and the motherland, we stand ready to assist the Government of Gujarat and the nation in any capacity required. Whether it is collaborating with Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management, extending emergency medical support to our citizens, strengthening the public health response, or training and deploying first responders and first aid teams – IMA Gujarat is prepared and willing to contribute wholeheartedly,” the association added.

The association has pointed out that the members, spread across the state, have always responded during times of national need, be it during natural calamities, pandemics, or public health emergencies. “We now once again reaffirm our dedication to act swiftly and patriotically in whatever way the situation demands. The spirit of unity, resilience, and service to the nation runs deep in the medical fraternity, and we assure you that we will stand firm with the Government of India and our Armed Forces during this time,” stated the association.

The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) also extended full support to the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy, acknowledging their unwavering dedication, valour, and relentless commitment to safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty and security. FORDA also assured its availability in any capacity required to strengthen the country’s preparedness in medical and emergency support. “In these times of heightened global and regional sensitivities, FORDA, on behalf of thousands of resident doctors serving in hospitals across the country, salutes the courage and discipline of our brave soldiers, who serve on the frontlines to protect the integrity of our motherland,” FORDA added.
