Alleged Negligence by IGMC Hospital: Man demands action after COVID positive wife's death
Former Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Lecturer Association Dr Sanjog Bhushan also alleged that good treatment is not being provided to Covid and non Covid patients in state hospitals.
Shimla: Former Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Lecturer Association Dr Sanjog Bhushan on Tuesday alleged medical negligence in his wife's treatment at Indira Gandhi Medica College (IGMC).
Addressing a press conference here, Dr Bhushan demanded action against the "negligent treatment offered to his wife at IGMC".
He also alleged that good treatment is not being provided to Covid and non-Covid patients in state hospitals.
Seeking action within four days, he said that if the state government would not take any action over the alleged negligence, he would sit on "Dharana" and hold a hunger strike before the Chief Minister Residence.
He blamed the IGMC Administrations for not providing treatment to non-Covid patients. He said that his wife was complaining of breathing problems, however, she was tested negative of Covid-19.
''She was rushed and admitted to IGMC on October 30 and succumbed at the hospital due to negligence in the non-Covid ailments on Oct 31," he alleged.
He said patients had kept fighting for their lives for almost 12 hours, however, no treatment was offered to the patients and no senior doctors turned up to treat the patients.
"She was forced to sit in an ambulance with two other patients. She was tested negative for Covid by Rapid Antigen tests. However, when she died, she was declared Covid positive."
Showing a major snag in the oxygen system in the Hospital, he also alleged that the oxygen unit of the ward
where she was admitted was out of order. He further alleged that the power points to provide steams to the patient were also not working.
The similar allegations were also made against the other hospitals.
When Contacted, the IGMC Senior Medical Officer Dr Janak Raj said that no such complaints were lodged by the victim family and no FIR has been registered for any major negligence.
Dr. Bhushan said that they were raising this issue to provide justice and better health services and they did not file complaints due to tragic incidence, However, he said that action should be taken against the errant health officials by taking cognizance of this media reports and they are ready to help in the probe.
