10 Basaveshwara Medical College Students Rescued After Getting Lost in Forest During Trek

Once authorities were alerted about the missing students, a search operation was launched by the local police, forest department officials, and villagers. The rescue operation, which began around 6 PM, was led by Balehonnur Police Inspector Dileep Kumar along with his team and well-known wildlife rescuer ‘Snake Arif’, reports PTI

After several hours of intensive search, the team located the stranded students at around 2 am and safely evacuated them from the forest. After coming out of the situation, the students expressed their gratitude for the timely intervention and also thanked the police and locals before returning to their hometown.

Medical Dialogues earlier reported that a 26-year-old doctor from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, tragically passed away after completing a trekking expedition in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. A postmortem conducted at Vettaikaranpudur hospital on Monday revealed that pulmonary edema, or fluid accumulation in the lungs, likely caused his death.

Ajzal, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, had recently completed his MBBS in Kerala and was preparing to pursue postgraduate medical studies in the United States. As per news reports, he was trekking along the challenging 13-kilometre Topslip–Pandaravarai trail, which winds through high-altitude mountain terrain and semi-evergreen forests.
