ED Raids Siddhartha Medical College Linked to Karnataka Home Minister Parameshwara
Karnataka- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently raided Sri Siddhartha Medical College. Along with this, raids were also conducted at Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Karnataka. The investigation agency's raid was conducted linked to Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, who is involved in the money laundering case related to Kannada film actor Ranya Rao's gold smuggling case.
The ED conducted the raid after it found alleged money transactions between Ranya Rao and the medical college linked to Parameshwara. Apart from this, the agency is also investigating the financial records of the hospital to gather more evidence. Both the Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology and Sri Siddhartha Medical College are run by a Trust that is owned by Parameshwara’s family.
"The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting raids and inspections at Siddhartha Institute of Technology and Siddhartha Medical College in Tumakuru, owned by Karnataka's Home Minister G. Parameshwara. The operation began around 9:30 AM today, with five teams involved in the raids. At Siddhartha Engineering College, only students with valid ID cards are being allowed entry, while access to the campus is strictly restricted for others," as reported by IANS.
Sources said ED officials arrived early in the morning and began scrutinising documents at several locations, including Siddhartha Medical College and Hospital in Tumakuru, Siddhartha Institute of Technology (SSIT), Siddhartha Engineering College, the head office of the Siddhartha Group located in Siddhartha Nagar, and the Siddhartha Medical College campus near T Begur in Nelamangala, reports Daijiworld.
Separate teams of ED officials conducted simultaneous raids at three major centres, reportedly involving over 30 personnel. The officials arrived in around nine vehicles and began checking records at the respective premises.
Meanwhile, the Congress party has strongly condemned the raids on institutions linked to Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara and called it politically motivated. Congress leaders allege that Parameshwara is being targeted because he is a prominent Dalit leader within the party, adds News18.
On this, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar defended his colleague and said, “I am sure the Home Minister has no hand in this… he is a decent and simple person”,
