According to the complainant, the doctor allegedly contacted her in November 2024, claiming to have completed his MBBS from Russia and to have good contacts at medical colleges there. He allegedly promised him admission to an MBBS course and a well-paying job in Russia, with a monthly salary of 90,000 rubles (approximately ₹1.04 lakh) and food.

Believing his claims, the complainant, his friends, and others paid a total of Rs 74 lakh — Rs 13.5 lakh via PhonePe transfers and Rs 60.5 lakh in cash at the clinic. However, he didn’t received any response in return from the accused.

Alleging cheating, he lodged a complaint at Khade Bazaar police station, and a case has been registered on the basis of the complaint. Inspector Mahantesh Dhamanwar is investigating the case.

According to a TNIE media news report, the accused allegedly sent 22 candidates to Russia on visit visas instead of work visas, and they were sent back to India after 15 days. When they realised they had been defrauded, the individuals contacted the police.

Last year, Medical Dialogues had reported a similar case where two individuals allegedly defrauded 10 students of Rs 1.3 crore. The Baner police searched for these two fraudsters. Police suspect that the men operated from an office in Balewadi, where they promised the aspirants admission to various medical colleges in Maharashtra.
