KS Hegde Medical College Inaugurates New Building, Launches Nuclear Medicine Services
Karnataka- Recently, the new medical college building at K.S. Hegde Medical College in Deralakatte, Karnataka was inaugurated by Karnataka Assembly Speaker UT Khader and Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. With the inauguration, the institute has also launched a Nuclear Medicine service. The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday in commemoration of the silver jubilee of the K S Hegde Medical College.
Apart from the Assembly Speaker and Family Welfare Minister, Medical College Chairman Dr Vinay Hegde, Chancellor Prof. Dr MS Mudithaya, Registrar Harsha Halahalli, Dean Dr Jayaprakash Shetty, Medical Superintendent Dr Sumalatha R, Nitte University Co-Vice Chancellor Dr M Shantaram Shetty, Chancellor Prof. Dr MS Mudithaya and Professor of Neurology Dr Suhan were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
As per TH Media news report, the university has issued a release mentioning that the new medical college building of KS Hegde Medical College is equipped with a wide range of facilities, including advanced diagnostics for cardiology, oncology, digestive diseases, neurosurgery, child health, obstetric care and women's health and treatment facilities like PET/CT scan and Gamma Knife. Additionally, the building also provides spacious outpatient rooms and wards, increasing the number of beds in the hospital to 1,200. Apart from this, the block also has a robotic surgery unit which will be made operational soon.
Meanwhile, the introduction of nuclear medicine service, which includes PET/CT scans, will provide reliable information about cancer as well as other heart, brain and endocrine diseases. Along with this, the nuclear medicine specialists of the hospital will now also be able to treat thyroid, prostate and other diseases with radioactive medicines. In this regard, the hospital has taken all precautions for the safety of the patients.
In order to give priority to humanitarian services and to promote mental peace and better health to all individuals, arrangements for blood donation and medicines for diabetic patients will also be made available at their homes.
