Renowned Dermatologist Dr Ramesh Bhat honoured with medal at WCD-Singapore

Mangalore: Dr Ramesh Bhat M, Professor of Dermatology was honoured with a Medal during the World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) Singapore from 2nd July to 8th July, for having served the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) from 2019-2023.

Dr Ramesha Bhat M was the first elected Indian International Director in the history of ILDS. He served as Vice-chair of ILDS- Patient Organization coalition, a member of the International Foundation of Dermatology and award committee. ILDS is involved in Global skin Health related to Policies, World Health Organisation, Research, Patient care and Medical Education. Dr Ramesh Bhat was also interviewed by the Singapore Ministry of Tourism.

Dr Bhat has done MBBS, DVD, MD, DNB, and MNAMS. He is currently serving as Vice Dean of Father Muller Medical College, Kankanady, Mangaluru, and is also a renowned professor in Dermatology.  He was as elected as the National President-Elect of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists, and Leprologists (IADVL) in 2017. He is the only second Dermatologist from Mangalore and the sixth in Karnataka to be elected to this post.

Dr Ramesh Bhat previously served as President of the IADVL Karnataka branch in the year 2011. He also served as National Hon General Secretary of IADVL in 2010-12. He was the Organizing Secretary of the successfully held 43rd National Conference of IADVL DERMACON 2015 at Mangalore which was attended by nearly 4,000 Dermatologists from all over the country and abroad. He is also a recipient of Dr L.N.Sinha Memorial National Young Dermatologist Award (2009) and Prof Ratan Singh Award (2016).

The World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) is organized by the ILDS and is one of the largest dermatology meetings in the world. The WCD enables specialists to share their knowledge, research results, and clinical experiences, and build their professional networks. Over the past 130 years, the WCD has brought together experts and relevant organisations and raised the importance of skin diseases.
