Confessional video of housesurgeon arrested on drug charges goes public, Probe launched
Thrissur: Days after a 24 year old doctor was arrested for possessing narcotic drugs in the central Kerala district, a video of the doctor confessing to the police became public and was circulating on social media platforms recently.
The video showed the medico telling the police that he used to supply narcotic drugs to 15 other doctors consequently disclosing a few names.

During the questioning, the medico revealed the names of those to whom he distributed drugs, adding that he had been using drugs for the past three years and attempts to quit it failed. He said that he used to take drugs while being on duty at the medical college hospital.
He had started to use drugs to feel energetic, to work without any sleep, eventually becoming addicted to it. His attempts to quit went in vain, adding that he suffered from various physical problems when he stopped taking drugs.
An investigation was launched by the Thrissur city Police on Tuesday, in connection with the arrest.
"We have launched an internal inquiry into the leakage of the confessional video. We have to find out who has taken the video and shared it on social media. However, I don't think the issue involves any violation of the rights of an alleged accused or a person in police custody", said the Thrissur city police commissioner R Adithya told the Indian Express.
The city Police had been checking the medical college and it's vicinity for several days now to probe who was peddling drugs and who were using it.
Following the crackdown, alerts were sent to City Police Commissioner R Aditya that there rampant drug use in college premises. The police received information around 2 AM about drugs being used at the hostel, following which a police team rushed to the hostel around 3 AM.
He was arrested from his hostel premises early Tuesday morning. The medical dialogues team had earlier reported about the incident.

The police stated that then who is a resident of Kozhikode has been peddling drugs to medical professionals since the last three years.
The police said, "Early this year, a drug peddler was arrested from the premises of the medical college hospital. We got a lead from the arrested drug peddler about the involvement of medical students and professionals in the racket. The doctor was arrested based on specific input and after months of monitoring of the drug abuse in the college premises. "
