Kerala: Mentally retarded woman allegedly raped in Govt Medical College Hospital premises

Thiruvananthapuram: A 34-year-old mentally retarded woman, who was in the Government Medical College Hospital here as a bystander for her mother, has been allegedly raped.

The woman was abducted after she came out from the ward to buy food packets for her mother from a nearest canteen on Thursday afternoon, sources said on Saturday.

Later, the woman was abandoned in the Medical College Hospital premises. She was in a poor condition and her clothes were torn. Following which, the woman was admitted to the SAT Hospital by the police.

The woman was in the hospital as a bystander for her aged mother after the latter was admitted since the last few days.

An investigation is underway to ascertain about how many are involved in the rape.
