Maharashtra- In a recent medical admission fraud case, the Azad Maidan police in Maharashtra have arrested two persons for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 14.40 lakh on the pretext of securing an MBBS seat under the ministry quota.
The case dates back to between May 26, 2022 and September 29, 2023, when the accused lured the complainant's daughter with the promise of getting her admission in MBBS through a special quota and charged a total of Rs 14.40 lakh. However, the admission did not take place. Following this, a case was registered at Azad Maidan police station under sections 406, 420 of cheating and forgery.
The arrested accused have been identified as Krishna Mohan Vishnudutt Sharma (46), resident of Agra, Delhi and Enul Zainul Hasan (32), resident of Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.
The case was later handed over to Crime Investigation Officer SP Ni Liladhar Patil, who, with the help of technical surveillance and a confidential informant, traced Sharma to Pune, where he was arrested on August 3, 2024. Based on interrogation, he was later arrested from his native village in Rampur on August 8.
