Dr Rajesh Sawarbandhe take over as IMA Nagpur President
Nagpur: Dr. Rajesh Sawarbandhe, a renowned orthopaedic surgeon, has been elected as the new president of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Nagpur branch, for the 2025-26 term. The IMA Nagpur has officially announced its new team of office bearers with Dr. Sawarbandhe taking the lead.
Currently serving as the director and orthopaedic specialist at Adishakti Hospital, Nagpur, Dr. Sawarbandhe has been actively associated with IMA Nagpur since 1998. His impressive academic credentials include MBBS, FCGP, MRSH, and MCH Ortho. His contributions to the medical field have earned him several prestigious recognitions, including the President's Appreciation Award from IMA Maharashtra in both 2021 and 2023. Additionally, he has been honored with awards such as the Best Young Orthopaedic Surgeon Award, Idol of Maharashtra Award, Lokmat Health Achiever Award 2025, and Sakal Health Warriors Award 2025.
Dr. Sawarbandhe has previously held various leadership roles, including vice president of IMA Nagpur, honorary secretary of the IMA Nagpur branch, and president of the Lions Club of Nagpur. He also served as the organising chairman of NIMACON. Talking to Medical Dialogues, Dr. Rajesh Sawarbandhe, “I have been assigned different important posts of IMA since 2012, and I am glad to be appointed as the president. With this dynamic team in place, the IMA Nagpur branch aims to continue supporting healthcare professionals and enhancing patient care in the region.”
The newly elected IMA Nagpur team comprises Dr. Jitendra Sahu as secretary, Dr. Sachin Gathe as president-elect, and Dr. Alok Umre and Dr. Aniruddha Deoke as vice-presidents. The role of treasurer has been assigned to Dr. Shivani Sule (Bidaye), while Dr. Anjali Bhandarkar and Dr. Yash Banait have been appointed as joint secretaries. Other key appointments include Dr. Ajay Deshpande as chairman of IMA AMS, Dr. Shubhangi Wairagade as secretary of IMA AMS, Dr. Nitin Gupta as assistant director of the IMA CGP Nagpur chapter, and Dr. R.J. Malani as assistant secretary of the same chapter.
