Pune: The candidates getting admitted into the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) are now required to pay a bond fee of Rs. 61 lakh, according to the latest information brochure released by the AFMC for admissions for the year 2021-22. This is a sharp rise from a previously charged amount of Rs 30 lakhs that was set last year.

Confirmation to this effect was recently made by the Information Bulletin for Admission to MBBS course 2021 released by the organization that states

At the time of admission parents/guardians of the candidates are required to sign a bond agreement for Rs 61,00,000/- (Rupees Sixty One Lakhs only). Any candidate withdrawing from the college after 7 days of admission [after 1600hrs (4PM)] will have to pay Bond Money as per existing rules.

This bond amount comes as a part of the clause that doctors would have to compulsorily serve the Armed forces

Candidates admitted to AFMC for MBBS course have a compulsory liability to serve as Commissioned Officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services. The offer of the type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and shall be determined on merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination. The liability of the SSC officers passing out of AFMC to serve in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) would be 7 (seven) years. The Permanent Commission (PC) Officers will have to serve in AFMS till date of superannuation. Complete details of Service Liability & Bond Agreement will be given to the candidates shortlisted for the screening

The bond fee is an amount payable at the time of admission in case the candidate decides to withdraw from the course after a specified window period. Previously, the AFMC had a bond fee of Rs. 30 lakhs but it has now been increased to Rs. 61 lakhs.

The AFMC aspirants are required to clear NEET-UG 2021, and also register and apply to AFMC Pune at www.mcc.nic.in during the registration window provided by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The list of such registered candidates will be provided by DGHS to AFMC. Approximately 1600 candidates (1150 boys and 450 girls) will be shortlisted and called for the screening.

The candidates will then be tested further on Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning (ToELR), Psychological Assessment Test (PAT), Interview and Medical Examination at AFMC, Pune. The marks obtained in ToELR will be added to NEET UG -2021 score out of 720, to get a score out of 800. This will be divided by 4 to get the written examination score out of 200. The interview will consist of 50 marks. The final merit will be based on the total of the written examination score and Interview marks. PAT will be a qualifying examination and its score will not be considered for preparing final merit list.

A total of 145 cadets including 115 boys & 30 girls will be admitted. Ten seats out of 145 are reserved for candidates belonging to the SC/ST.
