Odisha: Even after six months of the complaint being filed against the fake OCMR (Odisha Council of Medical Registration) website which had been providing fake MBBS, MD, MS registration certificates to doctors, the matter has not been solved yet.

In July last year, OCMR found that medical registration certificates were being fabricated and issued with the help of the fake OCMR website. Hence, it lodged a formal complaint and requested the crime branch to investigate the matter and take down the fake website as early as possible.

However, the authorities are yet to take down the fake website and nab the offenders.
As per a recent report by Orissa Post, though the website is still fully functioning, OCMR sources confirmed that the crime branch authorities have already started an investigation after which they have frozen the accounts of some of the frauds associated with the formation of the fake website and the bogus registrations.
The crime branch is yet to arrest the fraudsters involved in the racket.
The crime branch is also working to take down the fake website as early as possible.
Previously Medical Dialogues team reported that flagging a bogus website the Odisha Council of Medical Registration had moved a letter with the crime branch seeking action against people running a racket indulged in providing fake MBBS, MD, MS registration certificate to medical practitioners across the country. The news of the fake website came to the light after OCMR received a complaint from a doctor who alleged that he has been facing some technical glitch while using the website. However, OCMR's reply was shocking as it clearly confirmed that the website www.ocmr.org.in was fake and OCMR has not yet developed facilities for an online registration system.
Taking note of the serious matter, the registrar of OCMR Kamal Kanta Das had written a letter to the additional director general of police crime branch asking it to register an FIR. In the letter he mentioned, " OCMR had developed the website long back named www.ocmr.org,in during 2004-2005 without online application facility for registration. It was abandoned due to a financial crunch, non-availability of human resources to handle the data and expensive A.M.C. Now our new website is under construction by NIC Bhubaneswar and till now we have not started on like online registration system."
The letter further added, " if an FIR may kindly be registered and the fake website may kindly be stopped along with preventing collection of fees to issue fake certificates." Now finally after more than 5 months the crime branch has traced the accounts of the individuals allegedly involved in the fraud but they are yet to take down the fake website.
OCMR is a Statutory Body constituted under the Odisha Council of Medical Registration Act, 1916 & the Odisha Medical Registration (Amendment) Act, 2010. Odisha Council of Medical Registration is vested with powers, duties, and function of regulating the practice of the Modern Scientific System of Medicine. (Allopathy) It can also issue statutory permission such as NOC and registration certificate for doctors to start their medical practice.
