Odisha to roll out Ayushman Bharat within 2 weeks: CM Majhi
Bhubaneswar: The Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana will be implemented in Odisha within the next two weeks, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Tuesday.
Majhi made this announcement at a Odisha Dibasa function in Cuttack district.
Although the government had earlier planned to launch the scheme on April 1, along with Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana, the date was shifted, though Majhi did not specify the reason for the delay, news agency PTI reported.
The CM claimed the health scheme would cover around 3.52 crore people across the state.

Under Ayushman Bharat, eligible beneficiaries will receive cashless treatment at 29,000 hospitals nationwide.
This coverage will not only extend to hospitals in Odisha but also outside the state, offering specialised care where necessary.
Majhi added that the previous BJD government had declined to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state.
He said the scheme will benefit economically weaker sections, rural communities and others who struggle to afford expensive medical care.
While the previous BSKY (Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana) covered only 900 hospitals, the Ayushman Bharat scheme will be available at 29,000 hospitals, he added.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a significant development, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) schemes will be launched across Odisha on April 1. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a meeting at Lok Bhawan to discuss the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) schemes.
According to the National Health Authority, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY is the largest health assurance scheme in the world which aims at providing a health cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to over 12 crores poor and vulnerable families (approximately 55 crore beneficiaries) that form the bottom 40% of the Indian population.
