Ludhiana: Six doctors and two others have been booked recently on charges of murder of a bank manager, whose body was recovered from a Muktsar canal. They were booked after the deceased man's wife filed a complaint alleging that her husband was murdered by the eight people after hatching a conspiracy and thereafter tried to pass it off as an accident.

It was alleged that on the morning of the fatal day, the deceased had an argument with a man named Kaku Sandhu, who had borrowed Rs 4 lakh from the deceased. Meanwhile, the other doctors had taken a loan from the bank where the deceased was the manager. All of them were well-acquainted and used to meet for get-togethers.

As per the latest media report by Indian Express, the 39-year-old deceased was a bank manager with the Central Bank of India, Lakhewali Village, Muktsar and had gone to a party with his friends including the doctors and two others on October 16. However, he did not return home.

Based on the complaint by the deceased's wife, an FIR was lodged against three doctors from Sandhu Hospital, one doctor from Sukhmani Eye Hospital and two other doctors along with two individuals identified as Kaku Sandhu and Rinku Bawa. They have been booked under section 103(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (when a group of five or more persons acting in concert commits murder…) and section 190 of BNS (when the offence is committed by any member of an unlawful assembly).

The person named Kaku Sandhu had a bungalow on Abohar Road, where the deceased used to meet with his friends for parties. After the argument with Sandhu over the borrowed money, the deceased went to meet his friends on the bungalow to reach a compromise

Indian Express has reported that the deceased last spoke to his wife at around 11 pm and told her that he would be back after two hours. However, when he did not return the call till 2 am the next day, she spoke to one of the doctors, who told her that he was sleeping at his home, while Kaku informed her at 2.30 am that they would all be back after eating food from a dhaba.

Following this, Darshan Singh Brar, retired AGM of the Central Bank of India and father of Simrandeep Singh Brar, informed the police. While investigating the matter, police tracked the deceased's mobile location near Bhullar Village and with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a search operation was carried out in a canal where the deceased's car along with his body was recovered.
