Doctor Versus Nurse: After 10 years of working together in same hospital, doctor and nurse turn into political rivals

Jaipur: For 10 years they were colleagues and worked hand-in-hand to treating patients. Now as they will be standing for election polls from opposite parties 

In Dungarpur, Rajasthan, a male nurse working at the district hospital is running against a doctor who works at the same facility in the assembly elections on November 25. They both have been working together for the last 10 years, with one now taking court permission and the other voluntary retirement to content electionsThis will be the first time in the state of Rajasthan that a nurse and a doctor from the same hospital are standing against each other in an election.

The first candidate, Bansilal Katara (Nurse), 41 years old, has opted for voluntary retirement from the government services in order to run as the BJP candidate. The second candidate, Dr Deepak Ghogra, 43 years old, is running on the Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) ticket after receiving permission from the Rajasthan High Court to do so as he is a state employee.

Katara and Ghogra are both tribal people and newcomers to the polls. There is a significant tribal community in Dungarpur, added TOI.

Dr. Ghogra, the medical officer of the government-affiliated medical college, stated that they both were colleagues and treated patients together, but now they are political rivals.

Nurse Katara stated that Dr Ghogra has legal protection and that even if he loses the election, he will return to his government job. Katara stated that he has left his job to start his political journey to help people.

Katara also has a political background that stems from the fact that his father was a Sarpanch (village head).

This neck-and-neck competition between the two, ignoring the past ten years of camaraderie, is considered conventional to the standards of the election.They are interested in attracting their patients since they have become well-liked by them, and they want to work together to create a healthy environment in Dungarpur.
