Rajasthan Medical Council directs Hospitals to Verify Degrees, Credentials of Doctors

Jaipur: After the Delhi Medical Council, the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) has also issued an advisory for the hospitals and nursing homes, asking them to verify the degrees and credentials of doctors before employing them.

RMC issued this advisory after taking cognizance of the instances where unqualified or underqualified doctors are employed in the hospitals, nursing homes and clinical establishments in the State. 

Clarifying that this is illegal and a punishable act, the Council has also asked the doctors visiting such hospitals or nursing homes to ensure that their patients are receiving medical care from qualified persons.

"It has come to the notice of Rajasthan Medical Council that many Hospitals, Nursing Homes and clinical establishments using modern medical science (Allopathy) are employeeing Doctors who are either unqualified/ underqualified or qualified in other branches for the treatment of the patients. This is against the law and a punishable act," RMC mentioned in the notice issued on 22.07.2024.

"Therefore it is requested that all Hospital owners to please check out the credentials of the doctors working in their hospitals," RMC added in the notice.

"Doctors visiting such hospitals/nursing homes are also requested to make sure that your patients is under care of qualified persons only, since these doctors will be held responsible for any deficiency of services to their patients," the notice further mentioned.

Apart from this, the Medical Council has also advised all hospitals, nursing homes and clinical establishments to check the facilities available to them before admitting patients. RMC also pointed out that the hospitals need to ensure that all the fire safety regulations are being complied with.

"Furthermore all hospitals, nursing homes and clinical establishments are requested to check the facilities available with them and admit patients accordingly only. Please make sure all regulations required by the law including the fire safety are complied with," read the notice issued by RMC President Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur and Registrar Dr Rajesh Kumar Sharma.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that recently the Delhi Medical Council had issued a similar advisory for the nursing homes, hospitals and clinical establishments in the State.
