Chennai: An MBBS aspirant and her dentist father have been booked for allegedly forging the NEET 2020 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) scorecard and submitting it to the officials during the counseling process.

As per various media accounts, the medical aspirant allegedly submitted a fake NEET scorecard that displayed her scoring 610 marks while she actually scored only 27. The father-daughter duo went hiding from their native place in paramakudi but Periamet police successfully nabbed them in Kerala and the case is still under investigation.

An FIR was registered under sections 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 464 (Making a false document), 465 (Forgery), 468 (Forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 471 (Using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code.

The father of the medical aspirant is identified as a dentist from the Ramanathapuram district. The case surfaced when the university officials observed that the medical aspirant submitted a mark sheet that showed discrepancies.

As per the recent media report by The Federal, the medical aspirant originally scored 27 in NEET UG 2020 but she appeared during the counseling session on November 30the at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Chennai accompanied by her father and produced the fabricated scorecard where she claimed that she scored 610 marks. She claimed that she is one of the candidates who scored high marks but did not receive a counseling call.
When the officials started verifying the documents, they found discrepancies. It was found that she scored much lower and hence did not receive a call for counseling. They also found out that the original candidate whose identity has been forged by the student has opted for the medical seat as well. Subsequently, a case has been registered against the father-daughter duo in the periamet police station by the authorities, reports the daily.
Police traced their mobile location with tracking devices and found them to be in Kerala. One of the investigating officers stated that a team has gone to Kerala to find the exact location of the accused.
Times of India reports that the police had issued two summons to the aspirant and her father in the case but they have not yet appeared in front of the investigators. The officer further informed the daily, " They were asked to appear for a probe as only a detailed inquiry reveals how she managed to forge the documentation and if there is a large network involved."
