Hyderabad: The Healthcare Reform Doctors' Association (HRDA) has urged the Kaloji Narayan Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) authorities and Govt of Telangana for swift steps to protect the interests of meritorious medical students who lost medical seats after cancellation of AIQ Mop-up round by the Supreme court.

The medical aspirants as well as junior doctors have requested the government to cancel the mop-up round and allow them to rejoin their round-2 seats.

The PG counselling at KNRUHS has sparked controversy, with students alleging that it was performed in violation of the guidelines. The Supreme Court cancelled the NEET PG all-India mop-up round. The Supreme Court ordered resigned State round-2 candidates to appear for State round-2 seats again.
However, KNRUHS refused to let them return to their round-2 seats, claiming that all rounds of counselling had been completed. Almost 100 medical aspirants have relinquished their State round-2 seats to take part in the AIQ mop-up, which KNRUHS has approved and now they are left with no seats, pointed out HRDA.

The association has recently submitted a letter to the Registrar and the Vice-Chancellor KNRUHS, Warangal requesting him to allow students to rejoin/retain the allocated seats in round 2 state counselling as directed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court after the cancellation of AIQ Mop-up round or to see that students who lost seat after AIQ Mop-up cancellation will again be eligible for same fresh round by coordinating with MCC, DGHS & Union Health Ministry similar to Dr.NTRUHS in AP.
In the letter, the association pointed out that many students lost their seats after cancellation of AIQ Mop-up round by the Supreme Court who joined after resigning from allocated seats in round 2 of state counselling. Subsequently Supreme court after cancellation of AIQ Mop-up round directed as follows: "However, since the proceedings were mentioned before this Court yesterday, prior to the expiry of the deadline and were directed to be listed today before the Court, it would be necessary to protect the students by directing that it would be open to the strafe's& to rejoin the allotted courses in round 2 of the State round of counseling on or before Spot on 9 April 2022. Ordered accordingly."
Meanwhile, KNRUHS conducted the state Mop-up round prior to AIQ Mop-up round violating the advisory by MCC which states that the states may revise their schedule such that each round of state quota counselling is conducted after the All India Quota counselling as per the directions issued by Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. The authorities denied the students to rejoin/retain their seats in round 2 violating Supreme Court guidelines.
Dr K Mahesh Kumar, the President of HRDA stated, " It will be a great loss to Telangana students who lost seats in AIQ Mop-up round and by denying them to retain their round 2 seats and their future is in the lurch though they have merit. Moreover, MCC/DGHS in its notice dated: 16-04- 2022 barred the same students from participating in a fresh round of AIQ Mop-up round though they resigned for round 2 state counselling. Hence, we urge the authorities to do the needful to do justice to students who lost seat in AIQ Mop up round."
