Hyderabad: The members of the Telangana Government Doctors Association (TNGDA) recently had a meeting with Health Minister Damodar RajaNarasimha to discuss ways of strengthening the medical services provided in government hospitals. The association has demanded that 66 civil surgeon posts be granted for the 33 districts in the state.

During this meeting, association representatives urged the minister to rectify the mistakes in GO MS No. 142 immediately. The association stated that 66 Civil Surgeon General Live posts including 33 posts for District Medical Health Officer (DMHO) and 33 posts for Additional DMHO should be created.

Talking to Medical Dialogues, Telangana Doctors Association State President Dr Narahari stated, “The number of districts was only 10 when the posts were created, now it is 33. We need one additional DMHO post and one DMHO in each district. The government has sanctioned 19 posts and 5 are in 7 zones of Hyderabad. There is no need to create so many DMHO posts there, considering that there are no sufficient rooms or staff to run an office. Rather we ask the government to ensure that each district has a DMHO office. So, 14 more posts should be introduced.”

They requested the minister to give promotions to public health doctors. According to cadre strength, the number of posts has to be increased. Civil surgeon promotions through cadre strength were requested to be given as per vertical seniority (General Line). The minister has been requested to keep dental doctors in the public health department. They further requested the minister to convert Telangana Medical Policy Council to secondary grade services.

State Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha responded positively to several requests made by representatives of the Telangana Government Doctors Association. The minister has ordered the government secretary Dr. Christina to submit a report on the solution to the problems of the government doctors.

In this meeting, Secretary of State Public Health Government Dr Christina, Director of Health Dr Ravinder, TVVP Commissioner Dr Ajay Kumar, Dr Vani along with Telangana Doctors Association State President Dr. Narahari, Secretary General Dr. Lalu Prasad Rathod, Treasurer Dr. Ravoof, Dr. Deenadayal, Dr. Krishna Rao, Dr Kalyan Chakravarthy, officials of various departments Have participated.
