Uttar Pradesh: The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida has started postgraduate course (PG courses) in four facilities to further improve patient care and academics.
The new courses were inaugurated last week by Narendra Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer of Greater Noida Institutional Development Authority who extended his best wishes to all the newly joined Directorate of national board (DNB) residents and also congratulated them.
In January this year, the inspection team of the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has allocated 20 DNB seats in five streams to GIMS for this academic session. Now GIMS has officially started Diplomate of National Board (DNB) courses in four disciplines in association with the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
Previously the Medical Dialogues team reported just after securing permission from the Medical Council of India (MCI) to start the MBBS program with 100 seats, the institute had applied for around 20 to 25 seats in five different streams including pediatrics, gynecology, medicine, surgery, and anesthesia, and an NBE inspection was held for the same. According to the sources, the inspecting team was satisfied with the hi-tech infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, and skills lab.
Commenting on the same, Bhushan told Hindustan Times, "GIMS has provided excellent care for Covid-19 patients, training all hospital staff in the district. I believe that it was the training, innovations, and protocol-based treatment of Covid-19 patients at GIMS that the Gautam Budh Nagar district has the lowest case fatality-ratio (CFR) among all districts in Uttar Pradesh. I hope all DNB residents will set a benchmark in the diagnosis and treatment of the patients in the future."
Dr (Brig) Rakesh Gupta, the GIMS director, thanked all the health workers for their services and hard work and told a daily that "After starting the MBBS course for 100 students, after due approval from the Medical Council of India (MCI), the PG courses will further improve patient care in our hospital. These trainees will boost patient care in the hospital and further growth of the institute and in return will gain from the immense and varied clinical workload. This will help not only in patient care but also in undergraduate training as they will help in the training the MBBS students."
GIMS Greater Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar (UP) is a self-running medical teaching institute established by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh, established since the 15th of February 2016.
