Uttarakhand: With an increased amount of whooping Rs 20 lakh medical college fee, it has become a task for Uttarakhand medicos to arrange the money and complete their MBBS course.

This came after the state government called off the bond between the medicos and the state government which helped them in getting a subsidized fee of rupees 50000 per year.

According to the bond, previously the undergraduate medical students of Government Medical College were given a chance to pursue MBBS courses with a subsidized fee if they agree to work five years on government medical facilities after their completion of the course. However, as the Uttarakhand government removed this condition bond, many of them are facing difficulties as now the fees have increased 8 times from 50k to 4.11 lacs per annum.

Facing the burden of unreasonable fee, one of the first year MBBS students of Haldwani Government Medical College may be unable to continue his further studies as his mother could not arrange the installment fee for his 2nd year MBBS course.

"In the year 2019, the provision of the bond was removed from Dr. Suheela Tiwari Government Medical College, Haldwani and Government Doon Medical College, Dehradun. Now, the fee structure for MBBS crosses over Rs 20 lakh in both the government colleges making them the highest fee for MBBS among government medical colleges in the country. Many of us are groping in dark about how to pay the installments of our fee," the first-year student of government medical college told TNIE
Demanding a reasonable fee structure the students of government medical colleges have submitted a letter to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand asking him to take necessary steps for the resumption of a logical fee structure.
The letter stated that when the neighboring states like Uttar Pradesh Himachal Pradesh and Punjab had fee structure of rupees 1.2 lacs per annum and rupees 6 lakhs for 5 years, Uttarakhand is charging rupees 20 lakhs which is no way reasonable.
Uttarakhand Medicos have taken Twitter to express their aggravated condition due to the unprecedented increase in the medical field.
