Can lifting heavy weights cause Piles? - Dr Sandesh Pawar
Lifting heavy weights can potentially contribute to the development or exacerbation of hemorrhoids. When individuals lift heavy objects, especially if done incorrectly or with improper technique, it can lead to increased intra-abdominal pressure. This elevated pressure may strain the veins in the rectal area, causing them to swell and become inflamed, resulting in the formation or worsening of hemorrhoids.
The strain exerted during heavy lifting puts pressure on the pelvic region, including the blood vessels around the anus. Over time, this repeated pressure can weaken the veins and contribute to the development of hemorrhoids. Practising proper lifting techniques, avoiding excessive strain while lifting heavy weights, and incorporating regular breaks during intense physical activity can help reduce the risk of developing or aggravating piles due to heavy lifting.
In this video, Dr Sandesh Pawar, Laparoscopic Surgeon and Colorectal Surgeon at Safalya Digestive Care Center, Shreerang Nagar, Nashik, Maharashtra addresses the question: "Can lifting heavy weights cause piles (hemorrhoids)?"
