New Delhi: MCD doctors association has been reported to have written to CM Kejriwal asking him to intervene and take over the health services from MCD as a permanent solution to their problem. MCD has not paid salary to its employees for more than three months now.

Asking for urgent redressal to their plight, the doctors pointed out that they are aware that their strike is causing immense suffering to the poor patients and general public and that no doctor wants to shun away from their work on both professional as well as on humanitarian grounds. The letter clearly said that it is deeply regretted that doctors have been forced into this situation today, solely due to the indifference of the administration at all levels namely the Corporation, State and Centre. "Repeated representations have been sent to hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and MCD authorities but as of date there has been total apathy and neither of them have shown any interest in resolving our issues and they do not appear to have any due or will to solve this recurring problem." the doctors pointed out.

The doctors requested  that either the state or the Centre intervene urgently to bail out the MCD from the current financial crisis so that salaries of all employees can be paid immediately. They have also suggested that in view of the precarious financial situation of the Municipal Corporations of Delhi, Health Services (except Public Health) may be taken away from the Corporation and may be considered to be taken over by the Delhi Government or Central Government as a permanent solution to the problems.

The doctors today continued to strike against the authorities demanding action. Delhi government while keeping mum on when doctors should expect to get their salaries, demanded a CBI enquiry into the MCD issue and has also given a loan of Rs 550 crore to enable MCD to pay staff's Salary.
