The talks between the government and MARD came to a fail yesterday. While the Maharashtra government took cognisance of the demands of the Association, it only gave verbal assurances of meeting the demands. The MARD had earlier demanded to get written confirmation of how these demands will be met in a time bound manner, failure of which, it declared a strike.  The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) an association having around 4500 resident doctors of various government hospitals in Maharashtra, is on an indefinite strike starting today till they receive a written circular/Government resolutions regarding the issues.

The Last strike of resident doctors that was organised under the banner of FORDA in New Delhi, had brought the  healthcare of the city to a standstill, forcing the Delhi government to immediately take to pacifying promises and even threatening with ESMA ( Essential Services Maintenance Act).

MARD had earlier presented the state with a charter of ten demands. The strike of the residents is slowly paralysing the healthcare of the city, with planned procedures being put to a halt and senior doctors working over-time to tending the ICUs and emergencies.
