Tamil Nadu: 125 government hospitals to aim for NABH accreditation
Chennai: In an effort to make healthcare accessible to all, the state government is making efforts to get the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers certification(NABH), for 125 more hospitals. The State Health Minister, C. Vijaya Baskar, confirmed the move, while speaking to The Hindu.
The Minister also stated that NABH accreditation will soon be made mandatory for all the hospitals in the state and a policy is under formulation regarding the same. Minister added that this would enable better administration of Chief Minister's comprehensive health insurance scheme. Better healthcare provisions will be available with these hospitals after the accreditation.
Addressing the inauguration of the 6th International Patient Safety Congress, a two-day event hosted by Apollo Hospitals, the state health Minister on Friday told the daily that the government has already bagged accreditation for thirteen government hospitals in the state under the NABH certification earlier and now 125 government medical institutions are in the pipeline for spearhead acquisition.
Elaborating the two-day affair, Mr. Baskar told the daily that the two day event was organized with an aim to ensure provision of high quality healthcare facilities to all, in capacity that it is available easily and at an affordable cost for all sections of society.
The health minister praised the chairman of Apollo Hospitals, Mr. Prathap Reddy, for his good work towards development of such a wide and well state-of-art facilitation and saving several lives since 1983.
