Puducherry: AIADMK leader A. Anbalagan has called for a high level probe into the functioning of medical institutions in the state. His call comes in the face of an income tax raid conducted in one of the seven medical colleges of Puducherry. He has charged medical colleges of the state for flouting norms and statutory provisions and asked the government to probe into their functioning.
Speaking to the press on Sunday, the AIADMK legislature party leader said that the IT raid on Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute and the residence of its senior administrative official was a blatant indication of 'flouting of norms and statutory provisions.'
Anabalgan said that the IT raid should be a ' wake up' call for the Government to ensure that colleges collected the same fees from students under the government quota as it did for others .Calling it a failure on the part of the government to control medical colleges from collecting hefty donations and capitation fees Mr. Anbalagan stated that the recent IT raid on one of the institutions was merely ' a tip of the iceberg.'
