The government is going to offer consolidated pay of Rs 70,000 per month.

Hyderabad: In order to equip government medical colleges across the state with competent senior residents, the Telangana State Government has sanctioned the recruitment of a total of 394 posts. In addition, the government has also issued a list of guidelines on the appointment of these doctors.


The concerned authorities have sanctioned nearly 523 posts of Senior Residents, on the basis of Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India norms. Of them,




  • Nearly 158 posts to be recruited under contract basis.

  • Another 394 posts are for seven Government Medical Colleges (including semi-autonomous Institutions) and one Government Dental College attached to Osmania General Hospital. (On the recommendation of Director of Medical Education)


Moreover, the government has also announced to provide a consolidated pay of Rs 70,000 per month, confirms a recent report by Telangana Today. Working hours will be between 8 am and 5 pm.


According to a report by TNIE, the new guidelines that have been issued by the state government mandate:




  • A person should have completed 39 years as of July 31, 2018

  • He/she should have an MD/MS/DNB degree and marks scored in the PG theory examination

  • The local fresh batch students of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences should be given preference over others, if two people have the same marks, then age will take precedence

  • Selection of senior resident will be subject-wise and college specific.

  • A committee will be constituted at the college level by the principal and should include superintendent and three college council members

  • The selection of candidates will be as per guidelines of Medical Council of India (MCI) prescribed for senior residents.


Cutoffs:




  • Osmania Medical College and Gandhi Medical College- Submission of application forms cutoff date - July 25.

  • For Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, Government Medical College, Siddipet, Government Medical College, Mahaboobnagar, Government Medical College, Nizamabad and RIMS, Adilabad - Submission of application forms cutoff date - August 3


In March, Telangana government revoked the one-year mandatory rural service for medical students pursuing PG. As part of this compulsory rural service, PG medical students used to join as senior resident doctors in government hospitals.
