Thiruvananthapuram:  Japanese Ambassador to India Kenji Hiramatsu on Tuesday said Japan is keen to support India in providing high-quality health infrastructure to common people.

The Japanese Government will support the Indian healthcare sector by actively getting involved in the Ayushmann Bharath, an initiative by the Indian Govt to provide high-quality health infrastructure to common people, specific cooperation that includes training of doctors, nurses and other caregivers.

Attending the inauguration of ‘Terumo Penpol JIM’, a joint initiative by the Terumo Penpol and the Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM), the Ambassador congratulated Terumo Penpol on being part of JIM, an initiative jointly ventured by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Japan and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, India.

Mentioning that how the concept of JIM was achieved by the effective engagement of prime ministers of both the countries, the Ambassador said the JIM aims to educate more than 30,000 manufacturing students by the year 2026.

As part of the collaboration between India and Japan, a MOC was signed in November 2016 to train floor shop leaders and engineers to Japanese standards in the next ten years through Japan India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM).
