UP: Opening of a 100-bedded government Maternity Hospital in dock

Medical equipments for the use of hospital and conducting investigations are also not provided by the government as yet, which is another hindrance in the opening of the facility, reports TOI.

However, it is believed that the government wants to open it before assembly polls with full-fledged facilities and it will be merged later on with the existing hospital once it is functional.

“The government will decide on when to open the maternity hospital. Appointment of doctors and other staff will be done at the government level,”CMO Sukhveer Singh said.

CMS of the women's hospital, Aabha Verma, told the daily, “The maternity hospital was to be inaugurated by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav online on September 8^th. We had got some information about the inauguration programme but due to some reasons the hospital could not be inaugurated." Verma added, "It is a state-of-the-art hospital and the building is huge. Most of the work have been completed. But we have no manpower to maintain it. No doctor has been appointed here as of now. It will be difficult to operate the hospital if doctors are not appointed. Also, the government is yet to provide the medical equipment to run the facility.”

The hospital once functional will be catering a total population of over 37 lakh from within the district, as the existing metarnity hospital in the district is not properly equipped with facilities to cater to the rush of women patients, which forces them to divert to private hospitals.
