West Bengal: 24-Hour Trauma Care Centres in all district Hospitals

Kolkata:  The West Bengal Health Department has decided to start 24-hour trauma care services in all the district hospitals of the state.


Separate units would be created within the existing buildings.


The work for setting up the units is already going on in the district hospitals in Singur, Bardhaman, Asansol, Islampur and Kharagpur, and at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. They would be operational by the end of February.

Trauma care is an important service of any hospital. Such a facility is already running successfully at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. Another is being set up at SSKM Hospital, which is going to be a level one trauma care centre.


And now it’s the turn of the districts to start providing trauma care services.
